...is the title of a play I've been part of for the past two weeks (
Du må ikke sove, as the original title is). All ninth grade classes at my school were. Two weeks with no regular school is awesome enough, but being in a play instead? Even MORE awesome!
It was basically a collection with poems, monologues, short drama pieces, and songs. All of them about Norway in the years 1905 to... the 70's, I think? Either way the whole thing was really interesting! We had two shows on Wednesday and two shows yesterday (two by classes 9.3 and two by 9.1/9.2 combined). It was held at Arkivet (the Archive) in Kristiansand, which was used as Gestapo headquarters during the war. Just being in the building gives you chills, I swear.
I read a poem together with ~
Terri-Hana about the people who were killed in the war, a monologue where I played a girl whose father was German (it was considered very taboo to be in love with a German man after the war, so both the women and their children were treated horribly), and I had a solo (
Aquarius) which... I sung horribly cuz I'm sick and my throat hurts like hell ;_; I couldn't even hit the high notes! (and I've been told I usually have a soprano voice)
In addition we all had like 13 songs we had to learn by heart. And now I CAN'T GET THEM OUTTA MY HEAD.
We also got a lot of donations for our trip to Auschwitz next year! Every year the tenth grade at our school takes a trip to one of the concentration camps in Germany or Poland, and it's usually Auschwitz. The students (and the parents) are in charge of getting the money and making preparations, so we're all taking small jobs and whatnot.
I have to sell waffles later today. Nad maybe tomorrow, since we suspect some of the kids who's supposed to do it then will skip :I
...hey, I managed to keep complaining to a minimum in this journal! Despite me being annoyed like woah at my age group. Being in this play made me truly realize what people mean when they tell me I'm mature >.>
